Using Project7’s FiveM Inventory Editor (Database Editing Tool)

by Izzy December 29, 2024
1 minutes read

When my friend Snowy from Project7 reached out to me about their newest creation – FiveM Inventory Editor – and I checked it out, I knew immediately that it would be a useful offline resource for staff teams all over FiveM. Project7 also has a few other helpful tools on their website such as their prop hash finder, and their collection of inventory item images.

What does the Inventory Editor do?

The inventory editor allows you to manage a players inventory offline, taking information directly from the database and allowing you to either just look it over, or make necessary adjustments. This FiveM Inventory Editing tool is intended to be utilized for players that are offline. You can not update a players inventory through the database if they are logged into the server. To edit someone’s inventory while they are on the server, please utilize your admin tools.

So let’s get started on how to use this FiveM Inventory Editor tool!

Let me tell you what, you guys. The entire process of getting your textures prepped, ready, DDS’d, and then brought into Blender is for sure an experience. But, hopefully you’ve followed through with the tutorial steps previously to get to this step. If you haven’t, here’s the links to those tutorials:

  • Turn your PNG’s into DDS

FiveM Creator Tutorial: Exchanging PNG textures to DDS with OpenIV

by Izzy December 24, 2024

Yes you can have PNGs for your items in order for textures to show up. A lot of people will do this for clothing. But, DDS is a great format to have for for your items. It is what GTA V utilizes and is best supported!

But Izzy, Substance Painter doesn’t export to DDS, Photoshop is a pain, and I don’t want to sit in paint.net and constantly open, export, open export. What can I do!? Well, to sum it up you can use OpenIV to create a texture dictionary, import your PNGs and then export them as DDS! And yes, it’s that easy. Now, there are other programs to do this with like Folders2YTD, but this tutorial isn’t about that. This tutorial is about using OpenIV.

FiveM Creator Tutorial: Exporting textures for GTA V models from Substance Painter

by Izzy December 24, 2024

Before I even get started on this tutorial I want to provide a massive thank you to Lev, over at levlevlev. He is a very knowledgeable person about 3D modeling for FiveM, and if it wasn’t for him, some of my projects would NOT be happening! So thank you SO much!

If you’re anything like me you will be someone absolutely in love with – and potentially obsessed with – Substance Painter for texturing your 3D models. This program has taken what was once a photoshop-cryfest, and made it a smoother experience for texturing models. That being said, I know plenty of people who still use photoshop to texture, and it isn’t a bad thing, but Substance Painter has surely made it a LOT easier.

Today, I am going to give you some tips and tricks to properly export your textures from Substance Painter, starting with prepping, and then I’ll share with you what was shared with me: an export preset. That’s right. Get absolutely excited.
