[A Hodgepodge of Thoughts] You’re not crazy.

by Izzy April 30, 2025
3 minutes read

The clock has just ticked 8 am, and I’m finally sitting down with breakfast. Ophelia, per usual, is doing tiny little whines mixed with heavy huffs of annoyance that I have not even bothered to give her a bite, even though I haven’t even taken my first. Little does she know I made her a scrambled egg. Alas, my dog is spoiled.

French toast. One egg, cinnamon and some Cinnabon creamer I’m pretty sure, is so many Weight Watchers points, I might as well not even bother tracking them. Not that I have been lately. Fell off that wagon pretty easily. Guh. A story for another time.

I was thinking this morning, about how I wanted to keep you guys in the loop of what I’m doing for my brand. It’s something I really wanted to make sure I did when I began really hitting the ground running with HP3D. Things that might be helpful for resources, things that are happening that show you’re not alone, my excitement, anguish and everything in between. I’m not the best vlogger, I don’t really know how to capture that content. And I’m not the best blogger either. But, I’ll do my best to pop in on the blog and give you updates. At first, when I began creating content outside of my 3D models and started wanting to focus on taking HP3D and making it really, really, real I thought I wanted to do this “what I’m doing for my business this week” segment on my YouTube, it was going to be such a great idea. Where each week I read off my log of ‘things I did’ and talked about it. But… sometimes it was embarrassing the time that would pass and I didn’t check in, I didn’t tell you anything and that was because I wasn’t.

Simply put: I’m mentally ill. And sometimes, that can really put a pause on life.

Maybe that’s something you can relate with. You know, following a mentally ill influencer who is just struggling to figure out what the actual fuuuuck is supposed to be happening.

Lately, I’ve been struggling with my brand. A lot. When I look at it, I imagine this widespread realm that I can touch anything I want! I can make it anything, be anything, look like anything. But, there’s just so much to do. So many options.

It’s too much. Overwhelming. Loud.

What social media accounts should I have? What does branding look like? What are my goals? What programs should I use? Why is it taking me 89247239 hours just to do this one project?! How do I network!?

My head is literally spinning.

I’m at this point where I feel like I’ve been running this brand for so long with nothing to show for it. And while I know that isn’t true, the feeling weighs so heavily on me. I hope I can shrug it off.

But I suppose I wanted to tell you that things will get better. That these billions of times we fall into this headspace right here, where we’re questioning ourselves as artists, entrepreneurs, creators, human beings – this is so totally normal. You’re NOT crazy. And while you may not be able to see the picture of that realm you’re creating yet, each and every piece you create that fits in there is progress. And every single day that passes you see just a little clearer. No matter how slow, how fast, or how knowledgeable you are to get there.

I have to write these words down while I’m in the moment. I just recorded this video to show off a randomly picked place, and like, WOW. You guys, THIS is what SecondLife is made of. THIS is literally what I am talking about when I gush over how incredible people are. From the artists taking inspiration and creating amazing mesh, to the creatives taking the pieces made to create these beautiful, magical, elaborate worlds. Oh my GOD.

Branding is giving me a complex.

by Izzy April 2, 2025

Something I promised myself was that my blog wouldn’t just be a place to teach you the technical shit, but where I would show you what I am going through during my journey as I feel we’re all on a similar path, and one day I will be much further ahead and someone else will come here and be like oh wow, she struggled too!

In todays “journal entry” I’m going through what I’m describing as a loss of self, and it has been oh so turned up because of one thing: branding. That’s right, branding Hodgepodge3D has given me a literal complex I swear to every dramatic bone that exists in my body it is a true statement.

[A Hodgepodge of Thoughts] A Pivitol Moment?

by Izzy January 25, 2025

Honestly, the entirety of my “career” as an artist has given me this false sense of belonging. People think I’m “cooler” because I can do this or that, but there’s so much weakness in my skillset. It gives me massive imposter syndrome.

Dear Diary: Pushing Myself 2025

by Izzy January 9, 2025

Welp. It’s 2025. Everyone on the internet is doing ‘new year, new me’ blogs with promises to do and be better, to achieve greatness and whatever else they’re trying to put on their plate from the buffet of life. I’m just… I’m here. My mind is cluttered with thoughts, ideas, wants. Goals? Things I want to have as goals but am not sure if its too late, too soon, unreachable, etc. Man. The mind is a crazy place, am I right? Yes. Yes, I am, and that feels good.

Using Project7’s FiveM Inventory Editor (Database Editing Tool)

by Izzy December 29, 2024
1 minutes read

When my friend Snowy from Project7 reached out to me about their newest creation – FiveM Inventory Editor – and I checked it out, I knew immediately that it would be a useful offline resource for staff teams all over FiveM. Project7 also has a few other helpful tools on their website such as their prop hash finder, and their collection of inventory item images.

What does the Inventory Editor do?

The inventory editor allows you to manage a players inventory offline, taking information directly from the database and allowing you to either just look it over, or make necessary adjustments. This FiveM Inventory Editing tool is intended to be utilized for players that are offline. You can not update a players inventory through the database if they are logged into the server. To edit someone’s inventory while they are on the server, please utilize your admin tools.

So let’s get started on how to use this FiveM Inventory Editor tool!

by Izzy December 24, 2024

Let me tell you what, you guys. The entire process of getting your textures prepped, ready, DDS’d, and then brought into Blender is for sure an experience. But, hopefully you’ve followed through with the tutorial steps previously to get to this step. If you haven’t, here’s the links to those tutorials:

  • Export textures from Substance Painter
  • Turn your PNG’s into DDS

FiveM Creator Tutorial: Exchanging PNG textures to DDS with OpenIV

by Izzy December 24, 2024
1 minutes read

Yes you can have PNGs for your items in order for textures to show up. A lot of people will do this for clothing. But, DDS is a great format to have for for your items. It is what GTA V utilizes and is best supported!

But Izzy, Substance Painter doesn’t export to DDS, Photoshop is a pain, and I don’t want to sit in paint.net and constantly open, export, open export. What can I do!? Well, to sum it up you can use OpenIV to create a texture dictionary, import your PNGs and then export them as DDS! And yes, it’s that easy. Now, there are other programs to do this with like Folders2YTD, but this tutorial isn’t about that. This tutorial is about using OpenIV.

Substance Painter Tutorial: Exporting Patterns with Diffuse Maps

by Izzy December 24, 2024
0 minutes read

The amount of frustration I was having when I worked on my rainy day boots was insane, and it was all because of the fact I have boots with special patterns on them that were NOT showing up on the diffuse maps. No matter what I did they were just non-existent. It didn’t make sense! Surely if they show up on base color, they should there too, no? No. I was frustrated for HOURS until yet again, the amazing Lev from levlevlev showed up and helped me out. So now, I share my knowledge!

FiveM Creator Tutorial: Exporting textures for GTA V models from Substance Painter

by Izzy December 24, 2024
1 minutes read

Before I even get started on this tutorial I want to provide a massive thank you to Lev, over at levlevlev. He is a very knowledgeable person about 3D modeling for FiveM, and if it wasn’t for him, some of my projects would NOT be happening! So thank you SO much!

If you’re anything like me you will be someone absolutely in love with – and potentially obsessed with – Substance Painter for texturing your 3D models. This program has taken what was once a photoshop-cryfest, and made it a smoother experience for texturing models. That being said, I know plenty of people who still use photoshop to texture, and it isn’t a bad thing, but Substance Painter has surely made it a LOT easier.

Today, I am going to give you some tips and tricks to properly export your textures from Substance Painter, starting with prepping, and then I’ll share with you what was shared with me: an export preset. That’s right. Get absolutely excited.
