Let me tell you what, you guys. The entire process of getting your textures prepped, ready, DDS’d, and then brought into Blender is for sure an experience. But, hopefully you’ve followed through with the tutorial steps previously to get to this step. If you haven’t, here’s the links to those tutorials:
Now that we have prepped our images, I’m going to assume that you’ve set up shaders for your model and such, and that you’re ready to add textures.
If you haven’t already gotten Sollumz for Blender and set it up, head over to their documentation and grab an install!
Once your model is brought in, and shaders have been applied, you can then go to the shading tab in blender. This is going to look INTENSE. Believe me. You’re going to stare at the nodes and want to cry. I consistently also want to cry. This is normal, just know that it isn’t as bad as it seems.

What we are going to focus on is the five panels stacked on top of each other. We will care about the ones labeled:
- DiffuseSampler – This is your diffuse texture
- SpecSampler – This is your specular map
- BumpSampler – This is your normal map

All you will want to do is to load in the correct textures into the correct places, and in the viewport, you should begin to see your textures appear! HURRAY!
And that’s it. You’ve successfully added your textures to your model, and can now move forward with your project!
